Islamic Dawah Training Centre (IDTC) was established in September 1998 by a group of humanitarian Muslims, It is a non-governmental organization originally focused on training religious leaders to console victims of war. However, the rebel invasion of Freetown on January 6, 1999, served as a turning point, shifting the organization’s mandate from psychological consolation to active emergency relief and humanitarian intervention.
Today, IDTC is motivated by a deep sense of compassion to reduce inequality and enhance opportunities for disadvantaged populations. Our strategic focus is built on a profound understanding of the needs of the poor and a steadfast commitment to sustainable, long-term solutions.
Our Core Objectives and Services: The overall goal of IDTC is to address the critical short- and long-term challenges facing vulnerable communities. Our primary areas of intervention include:
-
Education, Health, and Nutrition: Improving access to essential life services.
-
Child Welfare: Providing specialized care for orphans and destitute children.
-
WASH: Implementing Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene initiatives.
-
Emergency Relief: Delivering seasonal aid and rapid response during crises.
-
Social Services: Enhancing the general well-being of the communities we serve.

Take Part Creating brighter futures
Islamic Dawah Training Centre is a leading charity NNGO in Sierra Leone helping orphans and disabled and destitute children in Tonkolili District and the Western Area. We believe that every child has the right to a fulfilling childhood, and we strive to help the young people who are struggling the most. We aim to provide safety and comfort for the underprivileged children within our areas of operation, giving them access to proper education and allowing them to grow in a caring and comfortable environment.
Every child has the right to a carefree childhood full of fun, laughter, and love, though many orphans and destitute and disabled children have little or none of this. No human being should live in constant worry and fear, especially children. We don’t need to be parents to understand that children should feel cared for and valued.
Over the past 25 years, Islamic Dawah Training Centre, through its donor partners from the UK, is proud to say we have provided access to education for over 1,500 children in Mile 91 in Tonkolili District and Freetown, the capital city in the Western Area in Sierra Leone.
We need donors to support us to make our vision a reality and bring hope to the most vulnerable people in Sierra Leone. Our charity work sees us helping disadvantaged children nationwide, whether they identify with Islam or not.
